HSA Health Insurance
Choosing an HSA, Health Savings Account, allows you to pay your medical expenses income-tax free. This means that you can begin saving for retirement on a tax-delayed basis. So if you have been looking for a health insurance plan that is a tax-favored savings account, conjunction with a high-deductible and makes your healthcare affordable and easier to begin saving for retirement, then HSA is what you need.
The following, although not limited to, are ways in which HSA can save you money if you choose an HSA plan:
- The money you put into your HSA builds up interest and/or can gain on a tax-free basis as well.
- When paying for any qualified medical expenses, you will not have to pay any taxes or penalties when you use or HSA to pay for the expenses.
If you want to obtain an HSA, an HSA-eligible health insurance plan is something that you have to get. The HSA-eligible health insurance plan is also known as the High Deductible Health Plan, which typically carries lower premiums than plans that have lower deductibles.
In order to be eligible for an HSA plan, a health insurance plan has to be able to meet the following criteria:
- The health insurance plan’s yearly deductible should be at least $1,100 for an individual(s) and for families it should be around $2,200.
- The total yearly deductible as well as any yearly out-of-pocket expenses that are necessary to be paid under the plan should not surpass $5,500 for an individual(s) and for families it should not surpass $11,000.
